Welcome to 5RM Class

Class: Year 5 Class 5RM and 5KF

Date: Autumn 1  2018

General Information / Upcoming Events

Welcome to Year 5!  We are excited to start this new school year and know all the children are going to work hard and achieve the best they can through ALWAYS following the St Matthew’s CARES values: Cooperate, Aspire, Respect, Encourage and Strive.

PE

P.E. day is on a Thursday.  Please ensure your child has suitable P.E. kit for both inside and outside including jogging bottoms, a jumper and trainers.  Pumps are needed for the hall.

In addition to the Thursday P.E. lesson, all children will complete a ‘daily mile’.  This will involve them running/walking a mile of the playground every day.

Reading Books

Children will read once a week with the class teacher as part of a guided reading group.

In addition to this, children are expected to read independently at home at least three times a week.  This could be a book from home or a book from the school library.  Children will visit the library on a weekly basis.

How can parents help?

Please listen to your child read at least three times a week or talk to your child about what they have read.  Children can pick a reading book from school, home or the library.

Learning all the time table facts should also be ongoing with children becoming quicker with their mental recall.

Please make sure homework is in on time and children have a clean and complete P.E. kit in school.
