General Information / Upcoming Events

Thank you for all your support in the last half term. We are continuing to follow the St Matthew’s CARES values. The Samaritan shoebox appeal is happening again this year so please contribute if you are able by filling a shoebox. We are looking forward to celebrating Christmas and learning new Christmas songs for the Carol service in church. We are also excited about our trip to Oldham Coliseum to see Dick Whittington.

PE

P.E. days are Tuesday and Thursday. Tuesday is outdoor P.E. and the children will be developing their netball skills this half term. We will strive to take the children outside whenever we can (weather dependant). Please ensure your child has suitable P.E. kit for outside including jogging bottoms, a jumper and trainers. Pumps are needed for the hall.

Reading Books

Children will read once a week with the class teacher as part of a guided reading group.

In addition to this children are expected to read independently at home at least three times a week. This could be a book from home or a book from the class shelf.

How can parents help?

Please listen to your child read at least three times a week or talk to your child about what they have read. Children can pick a reading book from school, home or the library.

Learning all the time table facts should also be ongoing with children becoming quicker with their mental recall.

Please make sure homework is in on time and children have a clean and complete P.E. kit in school.
