General Information / Upcoming Events Thank you for all your support in the last half term. This half term we welcome Mrs Boulakhras to the Year 5 team on a Monday and Friday. The Samaritan shoe box appeal is happening again this year so please contribute if you are able by filling a shoe box. We are also looking forward to celebrating Christmas and learning the new Christmas songs ready for the carol service in church. |

PE P.E. day is on a Thursday. Please ensure your child has suitable P.E. kit for both inside and outside including jogging bottoms, a jumper and trainers. Pumps are needed for the hall. In addition to the Thursday P.E. lesson, all children will complete a ‘daily mile’. This will involve them running/walking a mile of the playground every day.
This half term we will be doing dance linked to World War II. |
Reading Books
Children will develop their reading skills once a week with the class teacher as part of a guided reading group. In addition to this, children are expected to read independently at home at least five times a week. This could be a book from home or a book from the school library. Please could you sign their Home Reading Records each time they read with a small comment that you or your child can write. Children will visit the library on a weekly basis. |

How can parents help? |
Please listen to your child read at least five times a week and talk to your child about what they have read. Children can pick a reading book from school, home or the library. You can find a list of recommended books on our website or the book trust website. Try to encourage a variety of genres and authors. Learning all the time table facts should also be ongoing with children becoming quicker with their mental recall. Please make sure homework is in on time and children have a clean and complete P.E. kit in school. |
