The Curriculum was developed and re-organised in 2018. It is sequenced to support the acquisition and retention of knowledge. The sequencing of the curriculum is closely linked to a carefully planned progression grid for each subject which focuses on the increasing depth of knowledge and learning skills required to progress through the curriculum. Throughout teaching practice, carefully planned activities to promote the revisiting and retention of prior knowledge acquisition are embedded within classroom delivery. We intend that the curriculum to be non-repetitive in content and progressive in terms of depth of knowledge and application with increased independence and resilience in learning. All of this is linked to the children’s growing understanding of the characteristics of effective learning which are taught in classes with increasing sophistication and celebrated within the school’s behaviour policy. One of our core curriculum aims is the celebration of difference and diversity in the wider world, beyond that which the children would experience in their immediate context. The cultural capital agenda is addressed through carefully planned “collapsed curriculum days” to apply knowledge gained in the wider curriculum within contexts that promote the children’s understanding of different people, cultures, customs and traditions. In so doing, we promote our Christian ethos; the children will live lives worthy of God and gain the empathic knowledge and understanding of others, earn their seat at the table and flourish into the future with knowledge, care and the love of Christ.
Our curriculum overviews reflect the content and challenge of the curriculum and are designed to ensure that all children are well-prepared for life in Modern Britain.
The curriculum will be taught with consideration of the needs of all learners. Our curriculum will be exciting and will inspire children to nurture a passion for learning.
