St Matthew’s Early Years is a nurturing environment where developing positive relationships with children and their families lies at the heart of everything we do. Our ultimate aim is for children to develop a love of learning underpinned by resilience, and intrinsic motivation linking to Characteristics of Effective Learning. In turn this enables children to achieve their potential and provides a strong foundation on which to build further learning in readiness for Year One, the National Curriculum and life beyond.
We value play and exploration and believe deep engagement and absorption in an activity be it child or adult led along with excellent practitioner knowledge of each unique child is the key to unlocking a child’s learning potential, As such we follow the interests and fascinations of the children wherever possible and enable the children to learn through first hand experiences.
