In reception we have two classes – Stars & Rainbows. We have class time for register and discrete teaching of maths and phonics. After this, the partition wall doors are opened up for ‘busy time’. During this time the children have access to enabling environments which are equipped with carefully considered resources designed to facilitate learning and development across all 17 areas of learning. We balance adult and child led learning, meaning that throughout the week all children access adult led activities, in which discrete skills are taught in maths and literacy. The children also lead their own learning through following their interests and fascinations.
